Angelbert Metoyer burst onto the Houston Art scene as an immensely gifted young artist with an eye opening exhibition at the Barbara Davis Gallery in 1998, which interestingly, is the very same gallery space now occupied by New Gallery/Thom Andriola. In the ensuing years, Metoyers work has grown and deeply matured as he has exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the world.
In his newest work, Angelbert moves beyond the dazzling draftsmanship he is acclaimed for, to embody a unique wholeness to the work that attempts to encapsulate the very spirit of energy. As the artist himself has said, I want this work to illustrate the relationship between light, abstraction, and the unknown.
Within these images from the creative unconscious mind, Angelbert Metoyer is offering up to us his treasured, personal roadmaps to the infinite.
